Ant's Diligent Harvest
In a meadow so merry, where wildflowers sway, Lived Dilly the Ant, working hard every day. While butterflies fluttered and grasshoppers sang, Dilly gathered seeds, with her colony gang. "Winter's a-coming," she'd say with a nod, "We'll store up our harvest, to honor our sod." Friends danced in the sun, "Why toil and sweat? Play now, save later— no worry or fret!"
Leaves turned to crimson, then frost kissed the ground, The meadow grew quiet, no songs to be found. Butterflies huddled, grasshoppers shivered cold, "Where's all the food? We've been lazy and bold!" Dilly's colony thrived in their warm, stockèd hall, Sharing sweet seeds with one and with all. "Come join us," she called, with a welcoming wave, "Diligence warms us— it's food for the brave."
The friends tumbled in, bellies rumbling with need, Grateful for morsels, for Dilly's good deed. "We played while you worked— oh, what a mistake! Your steady paws saved us from winter's ache." Dilly smiled soft, antennae a-glow, "Diligence isn't drudgery— watch how it grows. One seed at a time, through sun and through sleet, Builds a bounty for all— sweet and complete.".
Snow swirled like a blanket, thick and so white, The world froze in silence, no end to the night. But down in the depths, the ants worked with cheer, Sorting and mending, drawing ever near. A mouse peeked in shy, with whiskers all white, "Share a crumb, friends? The cold bites tonight." Dilly nodded kind, "Plenty for every soul— Diligence hoards, but shares from the whole."

As weeks waltzed by slow, the stores held their own, Dilly planned for the spring, seeds freshly sown. She taught the young ants, with a pat and a point, "Work with your heart, and joy will anoint. Diligence dances in every small stride— It's the steady that wins, not the flashy or wide." The friends now joined in, paws busy and bright, Learning the rhythm of day into night.
Spring burst forth green, with sun's warming ray, The meadow awoke in a colorful fray. Dilly led marches to fields far and wide, Gathering anew, with nothing to hide. The once-lazy friends now toiled side by side, "Diligence doings— our very best guide! Thanks to your harvest, we learned how to strive— Together we're stronger, and fully alive.
The colony flourished, a diligent hive, Where hard work and sharing helped all to thrive. Dilly looked back on the winter so white, "Persistence in paws makes the darkness take flight. One crumb at a time, through storm and through shine— Diligence weaves the grandest design." The meadow rang merry with songs ever new, A lesson in labor, tried and true.
As sun sank to sleep in the west's rosy bed, Dilly paused in her path, with a satisfied tread. More harvests to hope for, more seasons to sow— An ant ever diligent, ready to go
