Elephant's Enduring Endurance
Across the wide savanna, where grasses sway tall, Lived Ellie the Elephant, strongest of all. Her herd faced a drought, rivers dry as old bone, "Time for the trek," said the elders with a groan. To the distant green hills, where water runs free— A journey of miles, for her family. Ellie trumpeted bold, trunk high in the air, "Endurance will guide us— we'll get there, I swear!"
The sun blazed like fire, scorching the plain, Dust choked the air, bringing thirst and pain. Little ones faltered, trunks drooping low, Ellie shared sips from her hidden flow. "We'll rest in the shade of that lone baobab tree," But miles stretched endless— as far as could be. Endurance whispered, soft in her ear, "Step after step— the oasis is near."
ions lounged lazy on rocks red and hot, Eyes gleaming hungry— they'd give all they'd got. The herd circled tight, calves safe in the middle, Ellie stood guard, her strength no small riddle. They trumpeted loud, a thunderous call, The lions slunk back— too tough for the brawl. Through peril and heat, endurance held sway, One foot in front of the other, come what may.
Thorns scratched like needles in acacia's grim wood, The path twisted narrow— not easy or good. Ellie's tusks cleared the way, branch by branch, But scratches drew blood, in a painful advance. "We can't go around," the young ones did cry, "It's too far, too rough— let's turn back and try." But endurance urged on, with a steady, sure beat, "Through thickets we thrive— on weary feet."
Mirages danced mocking, pools that weren't there, Trunks reached for water in the hot, shimmering air. Disappointment stung sharp as a bee's angry dart, But Ellie pressed forward, with wisdom in heart. "Endure the illusion, the tease of the eye— True oases wait for the one who won't die On dreams that deceive, but the real ones endure, Step true to the promise, steady and sure."
Legs grew like lead, the sun's relentless glare, Calves whimpered soft, too weary to bear. Ellie carried the smallest on her broad back, Singing old songs of the rivers intact. "Nearly there," she assured, though miles loomed long, Endurance her song, a persevering throng. Through ache and through thirst, the herd held as one, The journey's true test, till the rising of sun.
At last, hills rose green, with a sparkle so blue, The oasis awaited— the promise come true! Trumpets of joy shook the savanna so wide, The herd plunged in deep, with the water as guide. Ellie drank slow, her endurance complete, "We made it together— what a victory sweet!" The young ones splashed merry, forgetting the strife, Endurance's gift— a fountain of life.
As stars wheeled above, in the night's velvet dome, Ellie shared wisdom 'round the watery home. "Endurance isn't flash or a sprint in the heat— It's the long, quiet march on unyielding feet. Through drought and through danger, when easy seems far, Hold on to your herd, your own guiding star. The savanna will call with more treks to endure— But together we'll last, strong and sure."
Dawn broke with promise, the herd strong anew, Ellie's endurance, shining right through. More journeys ahead, more trials to face— An elephant enduring, in steadfast grace!
