Shadow's Bewitching Triumph
In a village aglow with pumpkins so bright, Lived Shadow the Cat, sleek as midnight's flight. Her fur black as ink, eyes green like a gem, But whispers followed her— "Bad luck, beware them!" On Halloween eve, with costumes and cheer, Folks crossed the street when Shadow drew near. She slunk in the shadows, heart heavy with doubt, "Why me? Just a kitty— what`s this all about?"
The children in capes, with masks funny and grand, Laughed and they frolicked across pumpkin land. But when Shadow padded soft on the path, They squealed, "Black cat! Oh no— bring the wrath!" A witch hat tilted, a ghost gave a boo, Shadow's tail drooped low, feeling ever so blue. "I didn't choose black— it's just how I'm made, Yet shadows I chase, in this fear parade."
Then thunder grumbled, and rain started to pour, Jack-o'-lanterns flickered, lights dimmed at the door. A little lost witch, with her broomstick askew, Tripped in the mud, her candy bag flew! The treats scattered wide, in the puddles they sank, The child wailed loud— oh, what a prank! Shadow watched close, from her hiding spot near, Heart tugging soft— could she conquer her fear?
"They're scared of me," Shadow mewed in the wet, "But kindness is magic— no hex or regret." She stepped from the dark, fur damp but eyes bright, Pawed at the candies, one by one in the night. The witch blinked through tears, "A black cat? But why?" Shadow purred low, "To help, not to spy. Your sweets need saving— let's gather them quick, Before the rain turns them to a sticky trick!"
Word spread like lightning— more young ones astray, A pirate, a dragon, all soaked in dismay. Shadow led gently, through puddles and gloom, Her night-vision sharp, like a lantern in bloom. "Why trust a black cat?" the pirate did ask, As she nudged him safe past a thorny bramble task. "Because fur's just fur— it's the heart that shines true, Not color or tales that the old witches brew."
A chasm yawned wide, like a witch's dark spell, Muddy and deep— oh, what a peril! The children froze tight, too scared to leap over, Winds howled like ghosts in a shivering shiver. Shadow arched back, then sprang with a yowl, Landing soft on the far side, bold as a owl. "Follow my path— one paw at a time, Bravery's a bridge, in rhythm and rhyme!"
They crossed one by one, with Shadow's brave lead, Hearts pounding but full, no more filled with dread. The rain eased to drizzle, stars peeked through the gray, And the village lights twinkled, guiding their way. "You're a hero!" they cried, with hugs warm and tight, Shadow's whiskers twitched in the soft lantern light. "Shadows can sparkle," she whispered with glee, "When you step into light— just you wait and see."
Back at the square, with treats piled high, They crowned Shadow queen under the full moon sky. No more "bad luck"— just a friend tried and true, Black fur gleaming proud in the Halloween hue. "Acceptance blooms when we look past the shade," She mewed to the crowd, in a wise serenade. "You're brave in your own way— let your true self show, And triumphs will follow, wherever you go."
As midnight bells chimed, and the revels grew still, Shadow stretched long on her favorite windowsill. From struggle to sparkle, a lesson she'd learned— Black cats bring magic, when courage is earned.
